Run away with me
June 2024
My darling, my wife,
Consider the life
We could share in a faraway land!
To love ‘neath the sky,
To love and to die
In a playground of forests and sand.
The sunlight so hazy
And the breezes so lazy
Bare your charms to my mind and my soul.
Your mysterious eyes
And your comforting sighs
And your tears shining bright make me whole.

When shall we leave?
Just beautiful. I have no other words.
I’m sad to not have known you throughout your life, but happy to have reconnected at least through your writings. From Chis and Sid to now you’ve obviously made an enormous impression on everyone who’s lives you’ve crossed. I find you a huge source of inspiration at a time when I can be prone to pessimism. Keep writing and I’ll keep reading. Much love to you and your family. Jo (Moore)
Thank you so much, Jo. You are very kind.
My first attempt at poetry! (I started a poem about 25 years ago but I never finished it)
Are you in touch with anyone else from the old days? I’ve met with a few since we have been back from America.
It’s an excellent first finished poem. I’ve always loved reading poetry and have tried my hand at writing a few times without success.
I’m not in contact with anyone from school days. A difficult time in my life meant that I moved away and those friendships suffered. I live in Spain now, so unexpectedly bumping into someone is unlikely.
You never know! I bumped into Neil Philpott’s brother playing football in California!
