Trip to the Falklands on a Type 42 for me, just after the war. Hated it at the time, but good memories now. Fits into the theme of this post… I sailed to the other end of the world when I was 18.

Thanks for your kind words.

You must have seen my desktop as i just scanned a photo of Scraesdon. By sea training do you mean that tug boat that pretended to be a minesweeper….Luckily I had a good constitution when at sea, but not everyone was so fortunate. Nice work by the way Kevin..

Hi Mike, it’s nice to hear your thoughts. Can I guess that you have read a lot more of Ragged Clown to know that my wife is Maltese?

I started writing my memories, a couple of years ago, in a form that I could print in a book to leave for my wife and kids. I started with joining the Navy and managed a couple of episodes at Fisgard, but then I started jumping all over, covering my time in America and my travels after I left the Navy.

I have the next episode, about the workshop at Fisgard and about Scraesdon, in my head. Perhaps I’ll write it down over Christmas. I’m most looking forward to Sea Training.

Thanks for stopping by,

— Kevin

I was 78/3 Lane division but as i began archiving my photos and remembering friends I wondered where they were and if they wanted a physical memory of their youth that I’d kept as a photo, well actually a negative. Sometimes i searched and hence i found you and your blog (i guess), Though truthfully i dont think it is, maybe a legacy of your life and the people who weave through it. Very motivating and i shared it with my daughter in a way to see her reaction. Would she enjoy reading my story..i think so but in the way Maltese people ask in an obscure manner maybe im asking permission in a similar style…onward with negative 17..
