Lovely to hear from you, Lucie. Thank you so much for sharing how you understand the world.

I am having a pleasant discussion with a lovely lady offline who sees the world in a very similar way to how you describe it. She also talks about the trees and the flowers, but also about love and compassion and meanings that could not have come from the physical world. They come from a higher power.

Lots to think about!

When I was 5 years old, a nun was teaching me in preparation for an early first communion. At that time, I knew there was a being called God, but I had no idea what that was about. So the nun did a chicken and egg argument with me, and got me to the beginning of things and how things did not come to be by themselves, hence, a creator God.
I was astounded… Up to then, I thought everything had always been the way it was, but now, there was a new layer. There was intentionality behind it all. They released me for a break, and I remember vividly going outside in the garden, and everything around me had changed. The trees, flowers, sky had become beautiful, special, endowed with someone’s intentionality. They were no longer an aphazard jumble.
That has been my sense of God ever since.
Similarly, there is a mysterious divine spark in every person. That makes people beautiful also. As we grow and struggle through life, the presence of God is with us also, and helps us through.
I pray for help frequently… for wisdom, for the ability to do what I need to do, to relate to others etc. It does help, though I could not explain how or why…
The God that I “encounter” is the creator of possibly an infinity of universes, and is present to every creature in a special way. So any representation, theology or dogma is of course woefully inadequate… even though some of it can be useful at times. I am a Roman Catholic… I see myself as participating in, entering rituals that in some ways help me to touch the Divine now and then, and rejuvenate me some.
The one thing I cannot believe in is the total absence of God from the reality around me. It does not seem plausible to me, and it would rob the world of its beauty it seems…
I have always been curious about how people experience all of this, because I think all of us yearn to glimpse at or touch the fringe of the ultimate.

Thank you, Bernard. I will take a look at that.
