I forgot that when we first talked you on this side of the pond. I am glad you and Mrs. Clown and the little clowns got back home.

And now I can find you here!

We had an absolutely marvellous time in New York and Port Jeff and we will always be grateful for the support and kindness you showed us.

Mrs Clown and I are trying to remember. We have photos of us together at your mum’s house just before we got married. We did “Marching Up And Down The Square”. That was 1993. Maybe you were too young to remember that?

Don’t remember you coming to our flat in Plymouth and the next time we saw you was at Carol’s when Jazz was born.

Ask your mum!!

One of my earliest memories was making popcorn with you and Mrs Clown, not sure when or where that was but it was very exciting!

At the time, I didn’t really think of it as taking our credit. We rolled our eyes a little and then shrugged. The company rewarded us plenty in salary and bonuses.

Bonus story:
If you did a good job, JP Morgan might give you as much as 50% of your salary as a Christmas bonus.

When I quit in July, my colleagues said I was crazy to quit so late in the year because I would be missing out on my huge Christmas bonus.

Oops.

I am trying to imagine how I would feel, sitting there listening to someone else take all the credit for my work. Is it just the way things are at the top of business? Would something continue to fester inside me after that event? Does it just build the itch in people to get to the top?

I first visited Manhattan in 1971 and 1980 when it still had very gritty neighborhoods. Went to New Year’s Eve 1980 against the advice of New Yorkers. Had a great time. I returned several times since. I love NYC. The people are terrific. One cabbie, who was honestly trying to help me, yelled at me full force for the mistake I made: slow to get to the cab stand after the train left so I couldn’t share a cab. So many characters to love! Great place to stay: The Jane Hotel. Titanic survivors stayed there. Built for sailors so the rooms look like those on shipboard. Inexpensive 6 years ago.
