Hi, yep. I also think most of us know enough maths and English by aged 14 to get by perfectly well. Schools should then add compulsory useful life lessons such as how to budget, wire a plug, fix a leaking toilet, put up shelves and paint a wall. It never occurred to me to add practical philosophy, such as political and ethical, to that list too. I love it.
I also like the idea of scientists needing to be philosophers. I think that makes sense particularly in the medical profession.
Finally, I am missing out various parts of the argument, but also don’t think everything needs to be useful to have merit such as art, music, fiction, theatre and the more fluffy parts of philosophy. 🙂
