We are still located in Trinity Place and I don’t think there has been much change to the building for some time, so I’m sure it will still be the same binnacle.

I used to have an excellent memory for names but I find those memories fading as I age. Too much rum in the navy, I suppose. My adventure training team included Peter Elder and Tony Crocker. I struggle to remember the others.

I remember Lt Cdr Osborne well. He gave me my first class on polishing my shoes in new entry. I remember his stern countenance well the first time I announced ‘One minute to colours, sir!’ Heaven forbid we mistook colours for evening colours!

I wonder if he remembers me, ex-Cadet PO (SCC) Kevin Lawrence (Best Cadet 1982), ex-Petty Officer (RN) and Midshipman BRNC Dartmouth (ret’d)?

I got a kick from seeing the photos of the quarterdeck on Facebook and wondering if that’s the same binnacle that I polished all those years ago.

Thank you for your kind invitiation. I too was an EX Ts Caprice Cadet, when CMdr Osborne was there and before him Cmdr Taylor I left in 1979 after being with TS Caprice from about 12 years old. Loved it! some of the happiest Days were spent in Norfolk, Crowborough, Windermere freezing but great experience. We also hired an Island I recall where we used to camp cant remeber where it was. Keith and Tony I remember well. Like Kevin I now live in fart away Australia but will come back to England and look you up. Are u still at Trinity Place? The competing team that I was in was Led by Paul Wright, others in that squad, were Steve Rayner, Paul Libbeter, Keith Wilson, Graham Wright. It would be nice to make contact with them again. I hope all is well at TS Caprice – keep up the great work!

I am several thousand miles away in California but if ever I pass by the old country, I will stop by. I have many fond memories of TS Caprice and have been meaning, for a while, to write a post in praise of the incredibly positive influence that Tony had on my life. I will be eternally grateful to him. I will always remember his brother Keith too as one of my heroes.

I follow your Facebook page with interest and every post about an activity triggers a reverie or transports me back to a regatta or adventure training competition. We were a very successful crew circa 1980-82 – our trophy cabinet was perpetually full. I hope the current crew are as successful!

I am the current Commanding Officer of Bexley & Lewisham Sea Cadets. Tony Barker is still involved as the Unit Chairman we also get regular visits from a previous CO – Lt Cdr Peter Osborne.

Hi Luke and Kevin, It looks like a T Barker is listed as the secretary on the SCC Ts Caprice website. It would be great to know if its him. Luke, I used to be in the guard too and you are most likely correct the Guns were Mk4’s. I checked the TS Caprice Facebook only one person been there maybe there is another one, we should join it and get others to join.
